30 Days of Thanksgiving

In honor of Thanksgiving, I'm joining my friend Amanda and a handful of other bloggers in celebrating 30 Days of Thanksgiving. Every day this month, we are going to share one thing we're thankful for via twitter (#30daysofthanksgiving) or instagram (if you've joined the 21st century- unlike myself), and then on Thursdays, we're going to do a recap of what we're thankful for on our blogs. I think it's always a good idea to remember the little things that I so often take for granted on a daily basis. Join us if you feel led and link up your posts every Thursday on Amanda's blog. The more the merrier :)

One thing I've been reminded of recently is how blessed I am to have electricity, heat, and running water. It seems like such a simple thing- it's nothing to get up in the morning and snap on lights, take a hot shower, or cook dinner in the oven- yet on the rare occasion I have to live without it for a day, I think I'm going to go crazy. I'm so spoiled. I've been seeing pictures in the news showing the horrible devastation of Hurricane Sandy across the east coast, and I've seen updates from friends on twitter who are without power and are expected to be without for the remainder of this week. It rained here in Ohio for about 4 1/2 days straight, but I never had to be without power, let alone experience getting my house smashed to bits. Those are houses in the photo up there. Horrible.

I would encourage you to take time today to think about what you're thankful for. Even when life seems hard, there is still so much to be thankful for.

  2. I oftentimes forget how grateful I should be for things like electricity and clean water and a warm house. So many things I've never had to worry about. What a good reminder!
